Maya integrates a very simple baking method since years in the render tools. Here's how to use it:
1. Once you have opened Maya, select both your source and target mesh and drag and drop them into the outliner, or import them using File/Import
2. Right click on your source mesh, add new material, and apply a surface shader. Choose your texture map as a file
💡 Tip |
Hit 6 to display the texture on your mesh! |
3. Go to the rendering shelf section, then click on lighting/shading, and choose transfer textures.
4. Select your source mesh and enter "add selected". Do the same for the target mesh.
5. Choose your setting, such as the resolution and the format, then the folder output. Once you're done, click on bake!
